I love working on myself and becoming better. In 2021, I started my glow-up journey but this year I really decided to focus on building strong lifelong routines and habits. This is why I decided to share 10 things I do to improve my lifestyle.
When I received my visa to move to the USA, my life became extremely chaotic and all the routines I’ve built just vanished. Honestly, it’s been chaotic since July and even after moving to Raleigh, I have been struggling to have a good routine and a balanced lifestyle. This is why in September 2021, I decided to challenge myself, and this year I am focusing on building my routines back. And I made a list of 10 things that I recently started doing to improve my lifestyle.
1| Cold shower
I love cold showers and have been taking them for years. However, sometimes, unfortunately, I stop for a few months and then I need to rebuild this habit again. This time I am determined to take cold showers every single day whether I am tired, sick, or cold. It’s my life-long goal that I definitely want to keep.
2| Intermittent fasting
This was one of the most important things for me to do. I have been practicing Intermittent Fasting for years but sometimes I take breaks just like with the cold showers. I know this is something I will be taking breaks from occasionally but it was very important for me to build the schedule back and make sure I don’t overeat.
To make it easier, I use the BodyFast app that allows me to schedule my eating and fasting time.
3| Healthy eating
Since I moved to Raleigh, I also gained weight. So I decided to ensure that what I eat is healthy. Moreover, I am getting older and I want to age gracefully and be healthy doing that. Eating healthy food that will provide me with tons of nutrition is a must. I am focusing on eating healthy meals and avoiding too much sugar, salt, and snacking in my free time.
4| Workout
In 2021, I have built a strong workout routine – exercising twice a week. However, before I moved, under the stress, I stopped exercising and haven’t been working out for months. Moreover, as I mentioned I gained weight which is even more frustrating. So now I am exercising two or three times a week and trying to be as active as possible. For me, it’s more of a long-term goal and definitely a routine that I want to keep for years for my mental and physical health.

5| Taking vitamins
This is something that is really necessary for me to sustain a healthy lifestyle and I’ve been struggling to take my medications and vitamins until a month ago when I finally started doing it every or almost every day.
Currently, I take vitamins for hair, nails, and skin, vegan fish oil and vitamins C with iron, and occasionally vegan probiotics. Please, consult your doctor before taking any vitamins or supplements.
6| Drinking more water
I was really struggling with drinking enough water for the past few years and it would show immediately. Then I would drink a lot of water again and after some time I would stop drinking again. And so it would go on and on and on..
Recently, I started tracking if I drink enough water and I keep two bottles of water near me all the time.
Here are some nice water bottles I love..
7| Journaling and Gratitude journaling
I think it’s extremely important to have a space where you can just dump all your thoughts, worries, and ideas. I am a big journaling and notebooks lover but even I had some issues doing so. However now I decided to build this habit once and for all. It really helps me to destress at the end of the day or cement some ideas on paper.
I started gratitude journaling back at the beginning of last year and honestly, it is one of the best things. Being able to write down about your day and what you’re thankful for. All the little details really make you appreciate life and how fragile it is.
8| Setting morning intentions
I started writing down my morning intentions back in November and since then I’ve been doing it religiously. Setting morning intentions and writing down affirmations for the day helps me to feel motivated, inspired, energized, and just happier.
9| Body and face cream
For me personally, using body and face creams is a sort of self-care. Doing it daily makes me, my body, and my face feel definitely better and more grateful.
10| Rebuilding my routine
This is one of the most important things I do to improve my lifestyle. As you noticed all of the things above are habits that I am working on and as we know habits become routines. I focus on building strong and long-term routines that will improve my lifestyle. It’s tough because these things put me out of my comfort zone that I stayed in for too long. But I am determined and motivated to make myself and my lifestyle much better.
