If the past two years taught us something, it is to take a step back, try to relax, and start taking care of ourselves. This is why I made a list of self-care ideas under 20 minutes to start practicing in 2022 every day.
Self-care is an incredibly important part of my life and I think it has to be for everyone too. We have to take care of ourselves. I don’t know why but we have been taught that self-care is selfish and our parents and ancestors would never do it, they had to work hard from a young age, and self-care is for the spoiled brats, blah-blah-blah 🙄
I extremely disagree. Self-care isn’t selfish, it is needed. We have to take care of ourselves in order to feel fulfilled, renewed, and energized. If we can’t take care of ourselves, how will we take care of everything else?
I recognize that being able to do it, is a privilege that not all of us have. But if you have at least a few minutes a day, make sure you check in with yourself, and I hope these self-care ideas will help you to do so!
Self-Care Ideas under 20 minutes for 2022
✭ Journaling. You can journal about your feelings or choose from the journal prompts. If you don’t like journaling, you can use speech-to-text or record your voice.
✭ Reading
✭ Gratitude. Again, you can either journal, do a gratitude meditation or just spend a few minutes a day going through the things you are grateful for.
✭ Meditation. It’s a great self-care tool. If you can’t practice standard meditation, read my blog post 8 alternative ways to practice meditation
✭ Affirmations
✭ Work out or dance. There are so many short workouts that can give you so much energy. I have a blog post with the workouts under 20 minutes, check it out here. If you don’t like exercising, dancing for 10-15 minutes will energize you as much as working out.
✭ Cleaning. Cleaning your home and space is also a form of self-care. I always say “clean home, clean mind”. I feel like after I tidy up my place, I feel way better and can finally breathe.
✭ Make your bed. This is the easiest form of self-care and a good start to the morning.
✭ Face mask. My favorite ones are the Korean sheet masks or clay masks by Freeman
✭ Cold or hot shower. It’s up to you which one you prefer. For me personally, it depends on my mood. Sometimes I need a hot shower with scrubs and nice-smelling lotions, and sometimes I need a bit of energy that a cold shower can provide.
✭ Say I love you to the loved one. Not trying to be negative but you never know when your last day on this Earth is, so to avoid any regrets, ensure that those who are important to you know that 🖤
✭ Check on your friends and family.
✭ Send a postcard to your friends on family on a birthday/holiday
✭ Stretch. I personally stretch a few times a day – in the morning, throughout the day, and before sleep. Sometimes there is so much tension in our bodies that a simple stretch (that doesn’t even require too much time) can help us feel way better.
✭ Go on the short walk to recharge, destress and get more energy. Even being outside for a short amount of time really helps me to see what my prerogatives are and feel aligned with myself and this world.
✭ Disconnect from social media and sit in silence to recharge.
