In the previous post, 22 things to do in the New Year, I made a list of the things you can do next year to spice up your lifestyle. Today, I want to discuss 23 habits to start in the New Year to upgrade your lifestyle and your mindset.
Some of these habits are similar to the previous list but what separates them is that you would want to repeat them, stick to them, and build a routine. Therefore, it is called habits.
Choose a few items from the list and create a realistic plan for 2023, break it down into smaller steps by week and stick to it to achieve the most success. When you create a routine for yourself, don’t overwhelm yourself too much, and make sure your plan is something you can actually do. You can learn in my another blog post, that I wrote earlier this year, how to build habits and stick to them. It has some practical pieces of advice and tips to create a strong routine.
I would also recommend downloading apps like HabitBull or Done to track your progress. Read my blog post about habits you can track to get a better idea.
Remember, you do it for yourself, not anyone else, not for social media and not to show off. You do it for yourself ✨
So before you scroll further, I wanted to remind you that I made a few notebooks through Amazon KDP. You can check them out down below, I designed them myself and truly love them. As a notebook lover, I also love the quality. Check them out ↓↓
Habits to start in the New Year
✔︎ Drink more water. Great for your skin, digestion, and overall health.
✔︎ Challenge yourself. For example, no coffee for a week or no alcohol for a month, etc.
✔︎ Build a routine. I think this is important for our lives to have a routine and without it, at least in my life, everything kind of falls apart.
✔︎ Exercise 3-5 times a week. Even 15 minutes at home or a short walk count as a workout.
✔︎ Start a journal. You can start any type from gratitude and manifestation to a junk journal for your creative thoughts
✔︎ Learn a new thing
✔︎ Meditate 2-5 times a week
✔︎ Stretch in the morning or evening
✔︎ Practice social media distancing
✔︎ Cook healthier meals at home
✔︎ Explore your town more
✔︎ Start volunteering
✔︎ Express yourself creatively more often. Whether through makeup, your personal style, art, or singing – it’s totally up to you. What is important is that you find your personal tools that you can use for creative expression and do it often. Creativity is really good for our mental health and overall mood.
✔︎ Spend more time outside. Nature is so healing and inspiring. I truly think that nature is a free mental health therapist. I always feel way better after spending some time outside.
If you need some extra inspiration and reasons to love nature even more, check out these books:
✔︎ Take yourself on a date or give yourself a gift every month or every two months (budget $20)
✔︎ Read at least 25 books
✔︎ Set monthly goals for your soul, body, and brain
✔︎ Smile more
✔︎ Say or write down affirmations and intentions for a day
✔︎ Take your vitamins (after a consultation with a doctor)
✔︎ Do a weekly facial and hair at-home treatment
✔︎ Eat one or more fresh fruit and veggie a day
✔︎ Let yourself relax and recharge. Don’t be too harsh on yourself. Self-care is important, especially in the nowadays world when everything moves so fast and so many things happen all at once. Give yourself permission to do nothing as well.
