Hi guys! Thanksgiving is almost here and I think it’s a good day to reflect and count the things to be grateful for this year.
As a non-American, Thanksgiving is a new holiday for me. This day can be also a bit confusing, especially, taking into account the history of this day. So I always try to stay more aware. But I love family gatherings and celebrations so I am excited about the Thanksgiving celebration this year. This is my second Thanksgiving
So here are 25 things to be grateful for this year.
Things to be grateful for in 2022
I know that all of us live different lives and come across various difficult situations and hardships. And sometimes it can get hard to be appreciative of the things and people we have in life. But I believe that all of us can find even the smallest things to be grateful for.
This is my list and I highly encourage you to create your own gratitude list even if there are 5 items there. Look around yourself and I am sure you will find things that made your life better or made you happy. Although, life can get hard, as I said, I still believe there are things to be grateful for.
1| Your health. I personally have been having some health issues in the past year and it amazes me how strong my body and health in general are. So I am truly grateful for my health
2| People around you. Either your family or friends, colleagues or strangers.
3| New opportunities you had this year and are about to have in the future.
4| Your food and home. Aren’t we lucky to not only have the necessary food but also enjoy snacks and drinks? Some people don’t have it.
5| The free time you have.
6| Your pets if you have any. If not, just being grateful for the animals and nature and how diverse it is, is a good start.
7| Your job. So I got my work permit recently and I’ve been looking for a job ever since. It’s been tough, I’ve been home for over a year and while it was fun, I have to say that if you have a job it’s much nicer and I think being a little more appreciative of that is definitely a good thing.
8| Things you have in life. Julia, are you so materialistic? Mhm, not really, but I am definitely a maximalist and enjoy aesthetic things in my life or stuff that simply brings me joy.
9| Your growth and development this year.
10| Your strength and resilience. I am pretty sure you had some obstacles on your way and you were able to overcome them one way or another. And I am so proud of you!
11| Ability to experience different feelings and emotions. Isn’t it beautiful that we can have various emotions? We can have deep feelings of love or experience a lot of sadness, and then be happy. And it pretty much never stops, isn’t it amazing?
12| The fact that you can see, hear, taste, and move.. When you think about people who are deprived of any of these experiences, it kind of puts everything in perspective.
13| For the technology you have like a smartphone or a laptop and TV.
14| Clean water.
15| Internet and the ability to learn without going to school or university. This is one of my favorite things!
16| The change of seasons and weather. I know it’s not always nice but hearing the rain drops on the rooftop or the first snow always bring me so much joy, there is always something nice to find in different seasons. Studying the Wheel of the Year definitely made me appreciate seasons even more.
17| Your hobbies.
18| Books you read or movies you watched.
19| Clothes you have or were able to buy.
20| Lessons learned this year.
21| The community whether online or offline.
22| Good memories you have.
23| Gifts you received or things that you bought either big or small.
24| Entertainment like festivals, concerts, events, museums, and trips.
25| Your life in general. Not trying to sound morbid but all of us will die. Some of us leave this world earlier which is incredibly sad. Some people don’t even get a chance to experience things you got to experience already. The first kiss, being in love, and even being heartbroken are probably some of the things that people who left too early would like to know about.
So I personally always keep this in mind. Tomorrow is not promised and while we plan for the future, we truly need to appreciate our lives as they are and learn how to live in the present moment.
